Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart is currently fulfilling his 12th term in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving the constituents of Florida’s 26th congressional district. This district encompasses communities in Miami-Dade (including Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Miami Lakes, Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens, Doral, Town of Medley, Wynwood, and Allapattah) and Collier (including Golden Gate, Lely, Lely Resorts, Verona Walk, Everglades City, Chokoloskee, Ave Maria, Copeland, Plantation Island, and Ochopee) Counties.
As the Dean of the Florida Congressional Delegation and Deputy Whip in Congress, Díaz-Balart is a senior leader in Congress, advancing the interests of Florida and the nation. He serves as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations and Chairman of the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs (NSRP) Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Defense Subcommittee.
Since his election to Congress in 2002, Congressman Díaz-Balart has earned a reputation as a staunch advocate for his constituents, prioritizing policies that promote economic growth, national security, and the protection of individual freedoms.
Before joining the U.S. House, Díaz-Balart served in the Florida State Legislature in both the House and Senate, where he chaired several consequential committees, including the Appropriations Committee. His legislative experience has shaped his focus on delivering impactful results for his district and the U.S. national security interest.
A steadfast advocate for individual rights and civil liberties, Díaz-Balart is also a leading voice in supporting U.S. allies and friends and countering dangerous anti-American adversaries which pose serious security threats.
Born on September 25, 1961, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Rafael and Hilda Díaz-Balart, Congressman Díaz-Balart is the youngest of four brothers (Rafael, Lincoln, and Jose). He studied Political Science at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Díaz-Balart currently resides in Miami, Florida, with his wife, Tia, and their son, Cristian Rafael.
